Things To Note Before You Change Name On Facebook

1.  Facebook might not permit some names, most especially joke names.


2. You might have to refresh your profile page to see your new name or restart the facebook app.

How To Change Your Facebook Name On The Mobile App

This will work on both your Facebook app for iOS and Android

Step 1:

Locate and open the Facebook mobile app, if you aren’t logged in already, you’ll be required to login to your account.

Enter your login details in the form provided. If you are already logged in, you’ll be met with your Facebook Newsfeed.

Step 2:

Tap on the Menu button, it is represented by ☰. It is mostly at the top-right corner for Android devices or lower-right corner for iPhones.

Step 3:

Locate and tap the “Settings” options, this mostly applies to iPhones, Android users should skip this step.

 

 

Step 4:

Tap on “Account Settings“.

Step 5:

Select the “General” option.

Step 6:

Tap on your profile name. This is usually at the top of your device’s screen.

Step 7:

In the fields provided, fill in your new names.

• First Name


• Middle Name


• Last Name

Step 8:

Select “Review Change” to confirm your change, it is usually a blue button at the bottom of your screen.

Step 9:

Facebook now asks you to review how you’ll want the names to appear on your profile.

• First name – Middle Name – Last Name


• Last Name – First Name – Middle Name etc

Choose anyone.

Step 10:

You are then required to enter your password, then tap on “Save” for the changes to take effect.

How To Change Name On Facebook With Your PC Or MacOs

Just like changing your Facebook page, you can change your Facebook name with your desktop browser too.

Accessing Facebook on a Desktop or Laptop computer is the same, whether you are running a Windows, Mac or Linux operating system. It entails login in with your browser.

Note: This method also works if you decide to change your Facebook name using a mobile browser.

Step 1:

From your device, open your browser and access the official Facebook site with this URL https://www.facebook.com

If logged in already, you’ll be greeted by your FB news feed, if you aren’t logged in, type in your login details in the fields provided.

Step 2:

At the upper-right corner of your screen, in the top blue bar is a dark icon that looks like a “V“. Tap on it to open a drop-down menu.

Step 3:

At the bottom of the drop-down menu is the “Settings” option, click on it.

Step 4:

In the page that opens, click on “General“, it is usually at the top-left corner of the page.

Step 5:

Click on your Facebook name, its at the top of the Page.

In the field provided fill in your new details…

• First Name


• Middle Name


• Last Name

You aren’t obliged to fill in everything.

Step 7:

Click on the “Review Change” button below the name section to confirm your change.

This prompts a pop-up menu.

Step 8:

Facebook then gives you the option to choose how you want your name to be displayed.

• First name – Middle Name – Last Name


• Last Name – First Name – Middle Name etc

Step 9:

You are then prompted to enter your password to confirm your change.

This changes your Facebook name.
